![]() Headquartered in Montreal, Quebec, the company has received $347 million in funding from investors. The company was established in 2005 and has received the first institutional investment of $30 million in 2012.Lightspeed is a leading Canadian based provider of POS for retail and hospitality companies serving worldwide. ![]() The detailed reporting feature of the software shows sales, inventory, and employee performance information in real time. You can use the POS solution to record sales, employee time, inventory, customer loyalty card, and payment processing. Recommended Reading => Best POS system for Small Businesses The software has loads of features that set it apart from others such as employee reporting, inventory management, customer tracking, and robust reporting. Lightspeed Retail POS is targeted at retailers and Lightspeed Restaurant POS is targeted at restaurants. Most of the other POS solutions I have reviewed so far were targeted to hospitality industries including restaurants and hotels. I believe this is a one-of-a-kind online POS solution that is aligned with the needs of small business retailers including bar owners, pet shop owners, toy store, owners, and others. The POS shows daily sales activities through the online portal. Basically we would have had to hire a third party company to host our store, as Lightspeed would discontinue it if we didn’t “upgrade” to eCom.Lightspeed POS is a fast online point of sale solution targeted to retailers. As users of the previous Lightspeed webstore, they all but forced us to switch to the new system. If you plan to use eCom on its own, it definitely wouldn’t be as bad, but it’s still a very new product with a ton of problems. Orders won’t download, photos won’t upload, product descriptions don’t upload correctly, taxes don’t transfer correctly, etc. We have a ton of other problems to do with the connection to our in-store Lightspeed OnSite POS system. Your only options are to set up all the shipping options manually or use EasyPost, which adds a surcharge to every shipment. If you want to ship internationally with the one included integration, EasyPost, you will need to make sure you have HS codes for every product. Product weights are not added together and taken into account when the store calculates the shipping charge, so customers will always be charged for the minimum size package to their destination. ![]() Shipping integrations don’t work correctly. Basically it needs at least another 6-12 months in the pipe before it’s close to being ready for release. As a standalone system, eCom might not be so bad, but using it in conjunction with Lightspeed OnSite is an absolute nightmare. Unfortunately eCom is still very unfinished. We’ve been using the POS software in-store for years. I’ve spent the last several months wrestling with Lightspeed eCom. Is it too late to just abandon LightSpeed? Do you have any experience with WooCommerce POS Plugin? Is there a better POS system we should be switching too? Once we make this change I think this is it for life…. Right now he actually has the self-hosted LightSpeed which isn’t even compatible with WooCommerce integration, so he needs to upgrade to the cloudbased before we can even start looking at that…. This is something I should have looked more into and anticipated (having to link POS to WooCommerce) but hindsight is always 20/20. ![]() We went ahead and built an ecommerce site with WP + WooCommerce (obviously) but it has grown to the point where they just can’t keep track of stock between both. We were originally going to setup an ecommerce site through them but it looked like absolute shit and didn’t seem customizable at all. I absolutely hate LightSpeed and my client has some real horror stories about being with them but has already been with them for quite some time. Jesus, good to know about ever deleting the plugin. So even though sales don’t flow back to LightSpeed, it still keeps product inventories synced? That is the main thing we are going for because his employees tracking inventory are starting to lose their minds.
